Welcome back, everyone! We are glad you have come back for our third posting! Before I waste any of your time I’m going to start by telling you that this post is less about your do’s and don’ts of design and more about being okay with yourself during the upcoming seasons. The holidays and season changes bring your pumpkin spice lattes, blasting holiday music, warm sweaters/high boots and oversized scarves….and to all of this, I simply say cheers!
No, but really, cheers as I sip my glass of Cabernet, I suggest you do the same.
First and foremost, get into your seasons! People are quick to complain about how busy and hectic the upcoming holiday seasons are but take a breath and enjoy. While you’re out grabbing all the presents on your buy list, grab a hot cocoa or pumpkin spice latte and enjoy it. Same goes for your decorating. Putting out your pumpkins or carving your turkey should be fun not stressful. It is ok to go back to the basics and mimic childhood holiday settings in your own home. Even holidays full of pumpkins, ghosts and goblins can be tasteful! Most of the time I say less is more but the holidays offer you the excuse to do what you want. That being said, break it down to the basics and do what you want within your own taste.
Second, don’t be afraid to give into what YOU want over the next couple of seasons. People joke about being Basic and it’s usually thought of as a negative trait. I will proudly admit I am about as basic as it gets during Fall and Winter. Literally, my husband gets home from work and I need our fireplace on. I warm up in the morning with a Starbucks in my hand and an oversized scarf around my shoulders. I can never have too many pairs of boots or too many baggy sweaters. And Bogey, our Mini Goldendoodle is about as Fall is it gets, seriously though check out that fall golden red. I use the seasons to my advantage. I bundle up all comfy, I play with Bogey in the leaves, I get down and dirty with being Basic and proud.
Take a peek into my world/mood board of Basic so far this season and feel free to post your photos here too! Let’s all be basic together! :]
